Welcome

One calm place for your recovery

Surgery comes with a stack of instructions at the exact moment you're least able to absorb them. Care Companion turns your surgeon's instructions into a simple daily plan — medication reminders, drain logging, red flags, and a report you can bring to appointments.

Care Companion organizes the instructions your own care team gave you. It is not medical advice and never replaces your care team. When something feels wrong, call them — or emergency services.

Everything you enter stays on this device. No account, no cloud, nothing shared unless you share it.

Scan your instructions

Photograph every page of the instructions your surgeon gave you — the discharge packet, the pre-op sheet, the medication list. Care Companion will read them and draft your plan.

You'll review every single item before anything is saved. Nothing goes into your plan until you say so.

Your photos are used to read the pages and are then discarded. They are never saved, never stored, and never shared. Your finished plan lives only on this phone.

Reading is done by an AI assistant and can make mistakes — that's exactly why you check every line on the next screen. Your care team's paperwork is always the final word.

Check this over

This is a draft, not your plan yet. Compare each line against the paperwork in your hands. Fix anything that's wrong, delete anything that doesn't belong, then save at the bottom. Pay closest attention to medication doses.

Saving puts this plan on your phone only. You can edit any part of it later in Settings.

Getting ready

Hi

Keep this on your home screenIt opens like an app and works without signal.

Drain status

Today's focus

This companion organizes the instructions from your care team. It supports them — it doesn't replace them. When something feels off, call your care team.

Drain output

24-hour totals

Every emptying

Empty and record as often as your care team asked — and log it right away so nothing is lost.

Bring this log to every appointment. Your care team makes every decision about drain removal — this log just keeps the numbers ready for them.

Care guide

Tap any card to open the steps. Your own packet always wins — if anything here differs from what your care team told you, follow them.

Emptying a drain bulb
  1. Wash your hands well with soap and water.
  2. Hold the bulb upright, drainage plug on top.
  3. Pull the plug to release the suction.
  4. Let the bulb fully expand.
  5. Turn it upside down and empty the fluid into a measuring cup.
  6. Read the amount in milliliters (mL) and log it right away.
  7. Pour out the fluid, then re-start the suction (next card).
Record in mL, not ounces, and note the time with each emptying. These are common steps for JP-style drains — follow your own team's version if it differs.
Re-starting the suction
  1. Squeeze the bulb flat until all the air is out.
  2. While still squeezing, close the drainage plug.
  3. Release — the bulb should stay collapsed / caved in.
  4. Wash your hands again.
If the bulb pops back to round, it isn't holding suction. Re-do it — and if it still won't hold, call your care team.
Stripping the drain tubing

Many teams ask you to do this every few hours while awake to keep clots from blocking the tube — check your packet.

  1. With one hand, hold the tubing steady right where it enters the skin (so you don't pull the stitches).
  2. With the other hand, pinch the tube between thumb and finger and squeeze all the way down to the bulb.
  3. You can gently roll the tube to loosen tissue or clots.
An alcohol wipe on your fingers helps them glide as you strip.
